Some Personal Little Things

I’m an Aggie, which means that I will often connect things to Texas or my class year (thus the ’97 of my URL) or to people and things I got to know during my amazing years in college. If you don’t know anything about Texas A&M, we are one of the largest schools in the U.S., both in terms of land and population. Spanning 5500 acres (just main campus) and serving over 70,000 students, I believe that A&M is heaven on earth. It’s my favorite place in the world. Therefore, the traditions and sayings and Aggie-isms are ingrained into me, and they will sprinkle about within my writing occasionally. Be prepared. I bleed maroon. It’s a little thing.

I am a teacher, which means I will often have anecdotes of things my students have said over the years (they are so funny) and sometimes a soapbox about how the government treats teachers and public education (it’s frustrating) and sometimes a lament about what the future may look like if society doesn’t let us do our jobs and trust us to do them well (seriously, folks). It’s a little thing.

I’m a follower of Christ, and I study Scripture for what it was intended to say and teach. Sometimes I will connect the “little thing” I’m writing about to my faith. If you are also a believer, I hope that you will find connection or conviction when I do this. If you are not a Christian, I hope that you’ll learn from these associations even though we have that difference in our beliefs. Sometimes I’m actively deconstructing my experience with organized religion, but never am I questioning my faith. It’s a little thing.
